You can connect Sage Accounting (also known as Sage Business Cloud Accounting) to Sage Earth Carbon Accounting (SECA) for automatic daily updates of your business transactions. This integration unlocks powerful insights into your spending data.
Note: The sync is one-way. Changes made in Sage Earth Carbon Accounting won’t affect your accounting software.
Initial Sync Time
The first sync may take up to 24 hours, based on data volume. During this time, some features may be temporarily unavailable. If the sync isn’t complete after 24 hours, we’re here to help. Please contact us and we will investigate.
What happens when I sync data from my accounting platform?
When you sync your accounts to Sage Earth Carbon Accounting, we will pull through the following data fields using an API (Application Programming Interface) connection:
Company name
Accounts provider
Authentication tokens
Category of transaction
Financial spend transactions: Record identifier, transaction type, date, amount, nominal code name, supplier name, transaction description, tax status
Note: GBP is the only supported currency.
Can I change the date my accounting platform is syncing from?
You can change the sync date at any time. To change this, go to Settings, then Integrations. Here you can see which platform and business is connected to Sage Earth Carbon Accounting. You'll also see the current Synced From date. Click Edit and you can select a different quarter to sync from. All new or updated business expenses from this date onward will be imported. Any existing imported transactions that stayed the same will also remain unchanged in the system.
You can only select a date earlier than the current Synced From date. This ensures existing data is not lost or duplicated.
Select the new date and click Continue. You'll get a warning that some of your data may be removed. Click Continue again and you'll progress to the Authorise Access page. This will follow the same path as when you initially authorised the integration. Then the earlier data will start to sync. This can take up to 24 hours to complete.
What happens when I disable integration with my accounting platform?
To disconnect from your accounts, go to Settings, then Integrations. Select Disconnect. No new business transactions will be imported. The integration can be set up again at any time.
Reconnecting Your Accounting Platform to Sage Earth Carbon Accounting
If you disconnect and later reconnect your accounting software to Sage Earth Carbon Accounting, any transactions that were created or updated during the disconnected period will be imported upon reconnection. However, please note that any transactions deleted in your accounting platform during this time will not be reflected in Sage Earth.
If a significant number of transactions were deleted while the connection was inactive, we recommend resetting your account to ensure data accuracy. If you would like support or advice on this, please contact us.
