If you’ve connected your financial accounting platform to Sage Carbon Accounting, we use your spend data to estimate your carbon emissions. Credits or refunds (like when you return something or get money back for a service) aren’t included. This means your emissions might be slightly overestimated, because returned items won’t reduce your emissions total.
As it turns out, the good news is that credits and refunds don’t usually make a big difference to a business’s carbon footprint; in tests we ran, they make up less than 5% of all transactions for 99% of small businesses.
If you do have a refund or credit that’s more significant and you’re concerned about the impact on your footprint, please reach out to our Support team, who can help you to remove the spend.
