To calculate your energy emissions, you’ll need:
Type of energy or fuel purchased (such as electricity, solid fuels)
Payment method (direct to supplier, included in rent/lease)
Quantity of energy or fuel used or bought
To calculate process emissions, you’ll need:
Carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) value released from your process activities;
orProcess type and amount processed (industrial process or activity, and processed volume with volume of measurement)
To calculate fugitive emissions, you’ll need:
Type of gas (e.g. HFC-32, R401A, methane)
Volume of gas released, in kilograms (kg)
To calculate your purchased goods emissions you'll need:
Type of goods purchased (e.g. materials, equipment, furniture)
Quantity of goods purchased (either total weight in kg or tonnes, or the cost of the purchase)
Whether any purchases were capital goods (e.g. machinery, equipment, buildings)
To calculate your purchased services emissions, you’ll need:
Type of service purchased
Cost of service
To calculate your water-related GHG emissions you'll need:
Water consumption figures (volume of water used)
Wastewater volume measurement, if separate
To calculate your vehicle emissions, you’ll need:
Fuel type (e.g. petrol, diesel, electricity)
Vehicle ownership (company-owned, leased, or employee-owned)
Amount of fuel or electricity purchased over the selected quarter (kilowatt-hours, joules, cubic meters, or litres)
Amount spent on fuel or charging (if usage data is not available)
For hybrid vehicles, measure and add fuel types separately.
To calculate employee commuting emissions, you’ll need:
Workplace addresses (entered in your Business Profile page)
Number of employees commuting to each location
Average percentage of time employees worked at each location during the selected quarter

Type of waste (e.g. metals, refuse, plastic)
Quantity of waste disposed of, in kilograms (kg) or tonnes
Providing both the waste type and quantity gives you the highest quality footprint calculation.
To calculate your upstream distribution emissions you'll need:
Mode of transport
Weight of goods transported
Distance goods transported (measured in kilometres)
Total warehousing costs including VAT or any other tax.
